Dome Light

Post  Jason on Tue Nov 29, 2011 6:24 pm

Ok, so does anyone know any other tricks for the dome light? I pulled the fuse this past spring and now keep leaving my lights on since the fog rolled in because the audible signal is also part of the fuse. Evil or Very Mad

I guess I just wanted the best of both worlds without hitting a switch or pulling the fuse in and out.

You can disconnect the back of the button that senses the door is open. I admit it was a bit of a pain the first time I did it, but I haven't had any problems in the 5 years I have owned a Jeep.

I put a $2 Radio Shack black switch on the bottom of the steering column. I flip it whenever I take the doors off. If you dont' know it's there you won't see it. I also made it so the dome lights come on when opening the rear door. Again, it looks factory. I tapped it from the door wire so it will still come on even with dome lights turned off. And the buzzer is part of the instrument cluster (stupid). A pair of pliers took care of it Very Happy

Here's a pic of my dome light switch:
