Try again with a meet and greet
Lets try again for the 19th of this month. I know it is the weekend after Valentines but take them along for a picnic.
Spread this along to other jeepers you know who have not joined the forums yet.

Re: Try again with a meet and greet
Talked to the land owner today and we are set up for Sunday, 19 Feb. He says there are a mix of trails with the Hell one not being conquered without winching in over a year. He is going to call some other off-roaders too who have been asking him to come out.
Say we make it a day with BBQ and food. Sorry no raffle prizes at this one...

Mixed challenge is good stuff. Extreme in places. Check out pirate4x4 for more info. You can expect damage. When he says No one has finished a trail without winching he ain't talking about a jeep, he's talking about buggies on 44's.

Re: Try again with a meet and greet
Looks like it may rain on Sunday. I keep watching the forecast.
I am calling Bob (property owner) later to see if we are still invited and what time he will open up. Im asking if he has Air and a BBQ pit. Anything else I should find out from him?

Red Dog Road, Colfax Ca
A long time ago (couple years) a good friend too me out on a Jeep trip off some road out around Colfax, Ca and ever since I haven't found anything as fun as that trip. Well just recently I was able to get in touch with some people and do some research and found it again. It's called Red Dog Road near Colfax Ca, about a 2.5 hr drive from Travis AFB. So I made my way out there this past weekend (Feb 12) and had a friend attach his HD GoPro camera to the jeep for a little bit of it, you can click the links at the bottom of the page to view the videos. I am not sure how the current "meet and greet" is going to turn out due to weather/availability but either way I plan on heading back out to Colfax on Saturday or Sunday (if things change).
Heres a little info about the trail, it took us a couple hrs to get through and when all was said and done only used about 1/4 tank of gas on the trails, there are some articulation parts (with easy go-arounds) some awesome mud trails and some water pits/mud holes (with easy go-arounds). All in all the best trail I've ever been on, couple of places to stop and eat lunch or what not. This trail has it all and for all levels of off-roaders and options for everyone to have a good time with no breaking. Feel free to google it and find some more information.
Just trying to get a feeler if anyone would be interested in doing this on Sat. and the meet and greet on sunday or if things don't work out in Vacaville for Sunday, move the meet and greet to this location either Sat or Sun. Please comment/reply back and let me know your thoughts.

Re: Try again with a meet and greet
I am guessing (until I get confirmation from Bob) that us base jeeps can meet at the Visitors Center at 0900 and caravan over, everyone else meet up around 0930-1000. Dropped from 60 to 20% chance for rain.

Re: Try again with a meet and greet
Confirmed with Bob! If it is not raining it is a go! You can meet up at the Visitor's Center at 0900 (0915 depart) or you can meet us at the trailhead at 1000. He does not have air out there and said it a bit muddy. Bring your own food/drink. I will fill up my 5 gal water can to share.
